Burlington is located in the county of Massachusetts, just 12 miles from Boston. The town lies on the watersheds of the Ipswich, Mystic and Shawsheen rivers. Throughout its history, the town has been mainly agricultural but since the construction of Route 128 - a motorway which partly circles Boston - the industry has developed rapidly.
There are a number of parks and recreation facilities in the town including basketball courts, tennis courts, an indoor ice skating rink and a skate park. Other attractions include Burlington Mall, the Mill Pond Conservation Area and the Burlington Landlocked Forest.
Several Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) bus routes operate in the city. Thanks to Route 128 and other main roads which pass through the city, it’s easy to travel within and outside of the city.
