Stirling is a market town located in Scotland with a population of around 45,750. The town’s economy is mainly focused around tourism with the finance and public sectors being the main employers of the population. Throughout the city public sector employers include Police Scotland and the Scottish prison service. The city is home to the University of Stirling which has brought a lot of interest around industries including knowledge and life sciences as the University Innovation Park lies on the outskirts of the main campus. Popular tourist destinations are sites including Stirling Castle (a historical monument), the Springkerse Retail Park, just east of the city, and the Blair Drummond Safari Park.
Other major UK cities including Glasgow and Edinburgh are easily accessible via road links including the M80 motorway and the M9. Stirling Railway station also provides services to these cities as well as Aberdeen and Inverness. The city has become an ideal commuter spot because of its excellent transport networks.
