Doncaster is a large town in the South of Yorkshire, England. The town is located on the A1 and M18 motorways, and is 20 minutes away from the M1 and M62 motorways. Doncaster is also an important railway town, and serves the East Coast Main Line.
Within the region, Doncaster is being recognised as an important European hub with developments such as the new Robin Hood Airport, which opened in 2005. In addition there is Doncaster International Railport that links to the Channel Tunnel.
Doncaster is also home to a number of distribution centres. These include an International Rail Freight Centre at Black Bank where goods are transported to Europe by rail. The B&Q Distribution Centre and the DFS UK headquarters are located at Redhouse A1(M) Junction.
For shopping there is the Frenchgate Centre and the popular and historic market place, which is open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and featuring over 600 stalls.
Every September, Doncaster hosts the a four-day Ladbrokes St. Leger Festival, which claims to be the number one premier sporting occasion of the autumn calendar. Also in Doncaster is Lakeside, which is one of the UK’s most renowned sports and leisure centres.
