Kiev is one of the most important industrial, scientific, cultural and educational centres of Eastern Europe and is home to many highly regarded institutions. The population stands at 2.75 million which makes Kiev the 8th largest city in Europe.

Located in the northern part of the centre of Ukraine, the city began to prosper in the late 19th century during the Russian Empire’s Industrial Revolution. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kiev remained the capital of Ukraine and continues to be the largest and richest city in the country.

Ukraine is positioning itself as a prime tourist location, due to the modernisation of the country Kiev is fast becoming a modern tourist destination.
