The Sule Pagoda is an ancient stupa and religious site, perfect for business travellers and visitors wanting to check out some of Yangon’s historical monuments. Bogyoke Aung San Market has over 2,000 shops including clothing, jewellery, food, and handicraft stalls. Vendors offer tasty street food and Chinatown is home to some fantastic restaurants. The Bogyoke Aung San Museum as well as the Karaweik palace are popular tourist attractions that are also worth a visit. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy a leisurely walk around The Circular Road or visit Kandawgyi Park.
Transport in Yangon
Myanmar can often seem hectic to a business traveller wanting to get from one destination to another quickly. The streets can seem extremely busy, however, there is a diverse range of transport options across the city. The YBS (Yangon Bus Service) runs regularly with 70 active bus routes and is a convenient cost-effective way to get around. It runs from 06:00am – 19:30pm and costs around 300 Kyat (£0.11) The Yangon River Cruise allows visitors to travel along the cities river systems all whilst having a picturesque view of the Yangon skyline. Taxis, private car hire, and the Yangon Circular Railway (38 stops including the general hospital) are all efficient modes of transportation. You can get around the whole train circuit in around 3.5 hours, the first 15 miles cost around 10 Kyat (£0.0038) and an extra 15 miles means the price moves up to 20 Kyat (0.0076). Longer trips can cost anywhere from 100 Kyat (£0.038) to 300 Kyat (£0.11).
