Bielefeld is a city in German with a population of more than
330,000. Part of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region, it is German’s 8th
largest city, with a large university and historic castle.
Originally a linen-producing town, Bielfeld is home to such
large companies as Dr. Oetker and Moeller. Its famous sights include
Sparrenburg Castle, Old City Hall and the City Theatre, or Staddtheater as it’s
known. Bielefeld’s other attractions range from pretty parks and gardens to
speciality museums.
Bielefeld has a well-established public transport system,
made up of bus and trains. It’s served by the Ostwestfalen Expressway, and
features a number of intercity bus services. Its main train station is Bielefeld
Hauptbahnhof, and its main bus station is Brackwede. A number of highways also run through
Bielefeld and connect to different parts of the city.
