Montpellier, in the south of France, is the capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region and is situated on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The city is served by the Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport and sees over 1.18 million passengers annually. It provides flights to international destinations, including London, as well as other cities in France including Paris. Within the city, public transport consists of the TGV highspeed trains, a tramway network and a bike sharing scheme.
Montpellier is home to many popular sites including the Place de la Comédie where an array of street artists and cafés can be found. Its downtown historic centre hosts a range of shops, ideal for leisure travellers. The Musée Fabre is another main attraction for both locals and visitors displaying ceramics from Greece and 15th to 18th century paintings. In the summer the city is home to the Festival de Radio which concentrates on opera and classical music.
