Tampere is a city in Finland. It lies between two lakes, Pyhajarvi and Nasijarvi, and is roughly 100 miles from Helsinki - Finland’s capital. Originally a market town, it has a long industrial past centred on textiles and metal. These days, Tampere is better known for things like mechanical engineering, automation, health and biotechnology.

Famous Tampere theatres include Pyynikin Kesäteatteri,Tampereen Teatteri and Tampereen Työväen Teatteri. Other popular sites are the Lenin Museum, Hatanpaa Arboretum and Näsinneula Tower - an observation deck worth visiting for lunch or dinner.
Tampere’s public transport network is predominately bus-based. Buses can be boarded anywhere in the city, and arrive at regular intervals. Taxis are another popular mode of transport, and are great for getting around Tampere. Local taxi ranks can be found at bus stations, train stations, and at Tampere’s main airport, Pirkkala.
