Pori is a city on Finland’s west coast. It lies six miles
from the Gulf of Bothnia, and overlooks the Kokemaenjoki River. It has a
population of 84,000, making it one of Finland’s largest cities. Pori’s main
language is Finnish, although German, Polish, Estonian and Swedish are also
spoken.
Pori’s public transport system consists of buses and trains.
Pori Railway Station can be found in the city centre, as can the main bus
station. More than 100 intercity buses run through Pori and connect to neighbouring
towns and cities. And, from Pori railway station you can reach either Tampere
or Helsinki.
Location attractions in Pori include Yyteri Beach and the
Jeslius Mausoleum. For a spot of shopping, visit Kauppakeskus Puuvilla, and, if
it’s a park you’re after, look no further than Kirjurinluoto. Other sites worth
seeing are the Pori Art Museum and Central Pori Church.
