One of the largest cities of the
Czech Republic, Brno has located in the south of the region Moravia. It is a judicial and administrative centre for the South Moravian Region. Named a city in 1243, Brno’s history dates back hundreds of years, making it rich in historical landmarks and tourist sights.
As a central area of Moravia, the city is home to many famous Moravian attractions, including the Moravian Gallery and the Moravian Museum. The city is also home to one of the largest exhibition centres in Europe; however, it is surprisingly quiet with tourists preventing crowds from becoming an issue when visiting historical locations. Some of the most popular places include two medieval buildings that dominate the cityscape, Špilberk castle and fortress and the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.
The public transport in Brno is reasonably extensive, offering tram, trolleybus, bus and train services throughout the city.
