Located in Surrey, Ashford is approximately a 40 minute drive southwest of central London. The city is predominantly a residential area, as it is situated along London’s commuter belt. The high street, on Church Road, carries mostly small independent retailers as well as coffee shops. The city is surrounded by a large number of open greenery and has a number of lakes, where water sports frequently take place.
Ashford station is also known as Ashford (Surrey) to differentiate it from the larger Ashford in Kent. The station carries the South West national rail line to Waterloo from Windsor & Eton Riverside. The city is also just a 15 minute drive from London Heathrow Airport and can be reached by two bus shuttle services.
