“Carnaby Street Welcomes the World” was the sign that hung above London’s most culturally iconic shopping street during the early ‘70s when Punk culture was taking off. Following the previous Swinging ‘60s, the sign symbolised the mood of the city at a time when London was awash with new music, new cultures and new liberal ideologies.
Carnaby Street has changed a lot over the years but it has kept its revolutionary spirit and innovative character. These days, Carnaby Street is a humming tourist destination and vibrant commercial hub. The street is lined with edgy stores, bars and clubs, Carnaby Street is a favourite among tourists and locals alike.
