Buckingham Palace is one of the few remaining working Royal Palaces in the world, and of course home to the British monarchy. With 755 rooms Buckingham Palace is an impressive and striking building both inside and out. Although built in 1705 this grand building didn’t become the official royal palace until the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837. Since then and to this day it has been the venue for royal ceremonies, state visits, and investitures. Set in Westminster in a notable location next to St James Park you will see the balcony famous for royal appearances, the regal Queen Victoria Memorial and the impressive ceremonial route to the palace - The Mall.
In the summer months, you can even explore inside the palace with a pre-arranged visit. The palace is set in stunning grounds and the Buckingham Palace Garden is the largest private garden in London and home to Her Majesty the Queen’s famous garden parties.
When visiting the palace it is worth timing it with the changing of the guard ceremony, or even combining with a trip to The Royal Mews or The Queen’s Gallery.
Nearest tube stations: Victoria, Green Park, and Hyde Park Corner are all nearby.
