The SilverDoor Partner Award Winners: City ID Group
2nd May 2019

In the second of our series showcasing the winners of the SilverDoor Partner Awards, we caught up with Alexander van Nieulande of the City ID Group.

City ID Group are behind a number of the leading serviced apartment properties in Amsterdam including A-partments, Amsterdam ID Aparthotel and Hotel Twenty Eight.

The operator’s latest venture, BOAT & CO, is by far their most ambitious. Opening later this year with 82 spacious apartments, a luxury spa and restaurant, we can’t wait to see the finished article!

The award for Best Partner Engagement recognises operators who go out of their way to create closer relationships with our people. Despite being based over in Amsterdam, City ID Group have always made an extraordinary effort to ensure everyone at SilverDoor feels a close connection with the team and a comprehensive understanding of their product.

But that’s enough from us, let’s hear what Alex has to say.

How was it to win the SilverDoor Partner Award for Best Partner Engagement?

We are very grateful for the recognition of the cooperation between City ID Group and SilverDoor as we value our partnership dearly. We have been working together for many years, however we did not expect to be awarded the most engaging partner! Hopefully our relationship will last for many more years.

What is special about City ID Group's relationship with SilverDoor?

Our relationship is not solely based on the business that we do together. Through the years a bond has been created between our two parties - we see each other as priorities, we do each other favours, and we even throw parties for each other!

Last December we visited SilverDoor in London dressed according to one the typical Dutch holidays, ‘Sinterklaas’, where we handed out chocolate and shared a poem we had written especially. Afterwards, we threw a bit of a party to celebrate our partnership with SilverDoor. We really enjoy making this kind of effort as it is always well received by our SilverDoorian friends.

There seems to be lots of exciting new City ID developments coming up, can you tell me a bit about them?

As the market in serviced apartments develops, we have to develop accordingly. Therefore we are constantly looking at our possibilities for growth and improvement of our product. Our most exciting development at this moment would be the opening of our new property, BOAT & CO, which is planned to launch this fall!

This aparthotel offers 82 apartments for affluent visitors to Amsterdam. We are looking forward to finalising and opening the product as this will increase our share of operational serviced apartments in the Amsterdam market. In addition, we are looking forward to extending the City ID Group family when BOAT & CO opens.

BOAT & CO interiors have been designed by the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio

City ID now have a great selection of apartments in Amsterdam, but what's unique about the new BOAT & CO. property?

BOAT & CO will be unique in many ways. The architecture of the building is a new-school variation of the classic Amsterdam architecture style. The interior is fully designed by the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio in London, which captures a similar ambience as the exterior, combined with a modern touch.

Located just moments from Amsterdam Central Station, the eye-catching loft & penthouse apartments will offer stunning views across the IJ river.

We are also striving towards the prestigious BREEAM certification – the leading sustainability assessment for buildings which surveys our environmental, social and economic performance.

It is safe to say that we are creating a bespoke experience for our future guests in Amsterdam.

BOAT & CO is set to open towards the end of 2019

Apart from winning the award, how was the rest of the SilverDoor Party 2019?

When entering the party we were immediately amazed by the location and the atmosphere. Everything had been thought of and there were lots of opportunities for catching up with old friends and networking with new ones. It was a great addition to our stay at London, and we hope we will share many more of these experiences in the future.
