The City Walk

The City Walk
29th September 2014

Despite having researched serviced apartments until I was blue in the face, I was still pretty unsure as to what they were. After living in Cornwall for a number of years and having only visited London once before, I was eager to venture into the capital.

Equipped with a map and a few phones, we headed for The City. Navigating the tube was a minefield but it was made much easier thanks to the help of my more city-experienced colleagues; Ramona, Sam and Emily. They spend their days helping business travellers pick the right location from Silverdoor's portfolio of serviced apartments in London so are fortunately well-qualified to help out-of-towners like me!

Once we reached our initial destination we followed a route that allowed us to view four different properties. The apartments were located in, arguably, the financial capital of the world; the Square Mile. For metric lovers, the area is 2.9 square kilometres, but that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, does it? The vast development taking place in the area was unbelievable and with a large number of offices covering the area it was clear to see how important the district was to SilverDoor.

The apartments we viewed were all of a different standard which gave me a real insight in to the diverse types of apartments we offer our clients to suit their needs. The Rosebery in Clerkenwell particularly stood out with its modern furnishings and great on-site facilities. Now two apartments down, we grabbed a sandwich and headed past Bank to St. Pauls Cathedral. The last two apartments shared a friendly face behind reception to welcome us.

After a day of walking in the sweltering heat, we ended on a high scoffing ice cream in an attempt to cool down. It was great to meet the property providers and I’ve already seen the benefits of putting a face to a name. City walks are a great way of getting a feel for an area we specialise in and the variety of apartments in our portfolio. This not only reinforces the relationships with our property partners but provides that extra knowledge of more minor details our clients look for.
