One way we have managed to remain at the forefront of the Serviced Apartment sector has been through the advocacy of third party certification – ensuring we remain accountable not only to our own high standards, but to those of the foremost experts in the industry. Introducing these accreditations to our sector serves to exhibit and promote legitimacy within the growing Serviced Accommodation sector. In the interest of development, SilverDoor is always willing to explore new avenues for improvement which align with our core values and those of our direct corporate clients, RMCs and TMCs.
To that end, SilverDoor has become the first specialist Corporate Housing agent to become successfully REST accredited. The Responsible, Ethical, and Sustainable Travel Accreditation from Quality in Tourism measures all aspects of business practice, including the four key cornerstones: Environmental and Economic Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Supplier Practices and Business Compliance, and HR and Ethical Employment.
We believe that by fostering best practice and promoting positive change, whether that be among our partners, our clients or our colleagues, we can create an environment for success and a blueprint for a healthy industry.
Toby Roberts, SilverDoor’s Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer, said of the accreditation:
“It's fantastic to have SilverDoor’s hard work recognised through a well-respected third party. The process has been much more than an accreditation; we worked closely with Sarah White and Deborah Heather who not only reviewed all of our relevant processes and policies, but worked with us to set ambitious future targets to improve not just our standards, but those of all our stakeholders. As business travel returns in full force, making our industry’s offering as responsible, ethical and sustainable is key, and SilverDoor will be doing all we can to support this.”
CEO of QIA services, Deborah Heather, said:
“SilverDoor has worked incredibly hard to embed the best possible standards of sustainable behaviour in their business. They have successfully gained the REST accreditation from QIA Services, the home of Quality in Tourism. Exhibiting market leading commitments and fulfilling our robust criteria, based on the UN’s 17 sustainable goals. SilverDoor is committed to educating operators to do the same. We were incredibly impressed at their determination to operate responsibly, and the ethical and sustainable ethos across the business. Well done all.”
Over the coming years, with the confidence of the REST accreditation behind us, we want to support sustainable, ethical, and responsible accommodation to become the preference for corporates, RMCs and travel buyers alike. This will encourage operators to adapt more sustainable practices to remain competitive and win business.
