Last week, SilverDoor Managing Director, Marcus Angell, broke the hugely exciting news that the company had purchased the impressive Charter House in Dalton Square, Lancaster.
Since 2016, Marcus has been actively searching for a new site for our Lancaster team, but was struggling to find a property offering A grade office space in the city centre. Having now acquired the freehold for the 15,000 square foot three-storey lot, SilverDoor will now begin a multi-million pound refurbishment to create what will become the city’s most prestigious commercial space.
"This will be the most significant commercial office development the city has had in years’’, says Marcus, “the scandalous dearth of large, high quality office space in Lancaster city centre has been a personal bugbear of mine in the search for a space that does justice to our brand and our people.”
Charter House is one of Lancaster’s most sought-after buildings: occupying an enviable central location that will soon be home to our 40-strong team of Lancastrians. After standing empty for almost two years having been previously occupied by HMRC and the NHS, Charter House is deserving of a new lease of life.
The refurbishment will restore and retain the original exterior features of Charter House, while installing a brand new, state of the art office interior. The upgrade comes at the end of a record-breaking year for SilverDoor and will mean that the Lancaster team can continue to expand its Account Management, Finance, HR, IT, Marketing and Partner Relationships departments. Having opened international offices in Singapore, Denver and Hyderabad to complement our existing UK offices in Lancaster and London, this move will ensure all SilverDoor teams are working within modern facilities that can keep up with the demands of our ever-growing client base.
Reiterating not only the need for a new office space for our Lancaster team, but the need for higher quality office space in the city generally, Marcus said:
“In Charter House, we have finally found a location that will, not only raise the bar for offices in the city, but will also demonstrate our confidence in the future of Lancaster as a great place to do business. It is our hope that other companies will follow suit and bring further development and employment opportunities to the city and the region as a whole.”
