It may only be the first week of December, but London’s Christmas festivities are already in full swing. It’s the time of year to overeat, overdrink and be merry. Here are our favourite places to grab a drink close to our London serviced apartments this Christmas.
Winterville
Winterville is located in Victoria Park, which is accessible from pretty much anywhere in London via tube, train or bus. Entry is free and entertainment includes concerts, club nights, comedy and cabaret.
An onsite pub, known as ‘Bar Humbug’, is housed in a wooden lodge with an outdoor heated terrace and features a variety of guest DJs and performers. To top off the festivities, Winterville is home to the ‘Hot Cider Bar’ which offers a huge variety of tipples, including Hot Buttered Rum Cider and Hot Salted Caramel Cider.
A short distance from Victoria Park is Patriot Apartments which has studio, one and two-bedroom options. These serviced apartments include daily maid service, free high-speed internet, fitness facilities and a swimming pool.
The Southbank Centre
Hot cider is clearly becoming a popular Christmas drink as it can also be found in the Southbank Centre, where Swedish cider brand, Rekorderlig, have opened up their ‘Christmas Lodge’. The two-tiered building was inspired by the architecture of Swedish ski lodges and serves up a wide range of Rekorderlig in bottles and on tap. DJs perform Thursday and Friday evenings after you’ve had your fill of delicious Scandinavian street food.
Located just around the corner from the Southbank Centre is Waterloo Apartments, comprising of a number of well-equipped one-bedroom apartments. These spacious apartments are ideally located five minutes away from Waterloo underground and rail station and are a short distance away from the many bars and restaurants London has to offer.
The Lodge
The Lodge is a pop-up restaurant in Balham, brought to life by Jimmy Garcia. In-keeping with the ski lodge theme, the interior of the restaurant-come-bar features tartan cushions propped on wooden benches and vintage skis adorn the walls. While the weather outside is frightful, there’s a plethora of winter warmers on the menu at The Lodge, including the indulgent wild boar sausages and mash. There’s also a list of hot cocktails which you can enjoy nestled under the heavy blankets.
Fifteen minutes away from Balham is Library Apartments which is also located just a five minute walk away from Clapham High Street railway station and a short distance from Clapham’s underground stations. These apartments come as one or two bedrooms and feature fully equipped kitchens with dishwashers and washer/dryers. Each apartment has an office space, which makes it ideal for those who need to work during their stay.
WigWamBam: Woodlandia
Located on the hidden rooftop of the Queen of Hoxton, WigWamBam: Woodlandia has an ever-changing food menu, but the winter cocktails are a permanent fixture - their vodka-based Warm & Toasty Toddy is not to be missed. The venue also has a giant barbecue and an outdoor fire which makes it the perfect setting for enjoying a hot cocktail and marshmallows.
London Square Apartments is situated on the border of Shoreditch and the City and, with Old Street station just a five-minute walk away, has good transport links. These apartments feature a fully equipped kitchen and a weekly maid service.
