Depending on a city’s public transit system and layout, travelling around can be a simple task or an altogether exasperating experience. According to a new survey conducted by LJ Research Hotel Monitor, ‘Good Public Transport Links’ is the most influential factor when deciding upon accommodation, prevailing over being in a ‘City Centre Location’, which comes a close second.
This latest research follows suit with two of Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s (CWT) reports about business travel trends and travel productivity in 2013. The first report reveals that companies are looking to control ground transport costs by reducing employees’ use of cars on business trips, while the latter report shows that the closer employees are to transport links the lower their stress levels, resulting in higher productivity during business trips. Vincent Lebunetel, senior director of CWT Solutions Group, confirms that “by identifying which stressors are causing the most pain for a particular segment of travellers, we can recommend specific solutions to enhance the traveller experience and improve productivity.”
This information comes as no surprise as proximity to transport links is one of the most cited requirements when SilverDoor clients enquire about accommodation. Location and transport are two of our main concerns when choosing the best serviced apartment option for a client. Furthermore, we ensure that when we respond to an enquiry via email, we feature the distance from the client’s office to the nearest transport links. Corporate travel is predicted to increase in 2013, so we know how important it is for companies to find the best accommodation for a good rate, in order to limit the impact on travel costs.
To use one of our most popular business travel destinations as an example, the city of New York has the second highest rate of public transportation use in the United States, with an estimated 54.7% of its workers using public transport. “The New York region and its suburbs represent about one quarter of the nation’s public transport sector”, states a report by Forbes magazine.
We offer serviced apartments in numerous neighbourhoods of The Big Apple and many are less than a 15 minute walk from public transit links. Our Centria Apartments in New York’s Midtown East offer excellent views of the Rockefeller Plaza and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and are a 15 minute walk from Times Square. In addition, they are ideally located just a two minute walk from 47th-50th Street Rockefeller Center subway station; a perfect city centre location for those who want to be only minutes away from the office.
For business travellers that prefer the price-savvy option of self-catering accommodation with a short commute in and out of The Big Apple, Union Apartments in Union, located west of Manhattan, are next to Union train station which has rail connections to New York Penn Station in 30 minutes. For those who would prefer to stay north of the city, White Plains Apartments are a two minute walk from White Plains train station, which has direct connections to Grand Central Terminal in 30 minutes.
We provide serviced apartments in over 300 cities around the globe so, no matter where you want to go, contact us and we’ll help you find your way around.
