Inside Scoop: Destiny Scotland

Here at SilverDoor and Citybase Apartments, we love meeting our property partners, visiting them and staying in their apartments - it’s how we get to know our locations and can personally recommend our properties, as well as providing advice and suggestions to help travellers get the most from their stay.

We also love it when they pay us a visit - this week in our Lancaster office, we welcomed Sally Brading and Stuart Moffat from Destiny Scotland and found out a bit more about what they have to offer guests.

Sally Brading and Stuart Moffat from Destiny Scotland join Kurtis Murphy for a tour at SilverDoor and Citybase Apartments’ Lancaster office.

Welcome to SilverDoor and Citybase Sally and Stuart. Your properties look beautiful, what can guests expect in a Destiny Scotland apartment?

“Our unique conversions are perfect for travellers who are seeking a truly authentic experience in Edinburgh, but without compromising on comfort, facilities or location. We are the opposite of identikit hotel rooms: our properties have stacks of original features and are all right in the centre of Edinburgh, giving both leisure and corporate guests the perfect base to make the most of the city."

Distillers’ House, Edinburgh: beautifully renovated one and two bedroom open-plan apartments have all the facilities you’d need for a short or long stay, in the bustling West End of the city.

Tell us about your newest properties

“The Chisholm Hunter suites are our newest property and, as with all our apartments, high quality interior design has been a focus for us. The majority of our properties are listed so the refurbishment, design and finish has had be extremely high quality to do these beautiful buildings justice. Equally, location is a priority; we only offer prime central locations in Edinburgh, this is particularly important for guests who work in the city centre, or leisure guests who don’t want to spend hours traipsing to and from their apartment. For those seeking something really special, our award winning Rutland Residence is the last word in luxury. We’ve spared no expense in the interior design and decor, which beautifully reflects the Georgian architecture of Rutland Square: it’s a tranquil retreat, just a stone’s throw from the bustle of Princes Street.”

What draws people to Edinburgh?

“Both as a business hub and one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, Edinburgh is a very cosmopolitan capital and buzzing with year-round appeal, fantastic to explore on foot and with breath-taking countryside of Holyrood Park within an easy walk of the city; loads of fantastic bars and restaurants to enjoy, great shopping, Christmas markets, museums and galleries. Of course, Scotland has a really rich history and culture to experience, so whether you’re into art, theatre, sport or food there will be something for you. And the Festival – of course, needs no introduction!"

Yes, please tell us a little bit about the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – it’s quite a big deal for the city!?

“Indeed it is! It’s actually the largest arts festival in the world that happens for three weeks in August and thousands of performers take to the city’s streets, venues, galleries and theatres showcasing the best in international comedy, dance, theatre and music. It is truly a bucket-list experience if you’ve never done it”

What is keeping Destiny Scotland busy at the moment, and what is coming up in the pipeline for you and your properties?

“Summer is a very busy time for Edinburgh and Glasgow generally, and we are looking forward to a great season. For Destiny Scotland, we currently have twelve properties in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow, but we have another six we are hoping to launch currently in various stages of the pipeline."

Why do you love working with SilverDoor and Citybase Apartments?

“For us, the personalised, knowledgeable and friendly service SilverDoor and Citybase provides means that your guests are well-informed and looked after from the minute they pick up the phone. Your teams are always happy, nice to deal with and bend over backward to help, particularly if a guest has a requirement that is out-of the ordinary or unexpected.”

Thank you for coming Destiny Scotland, you have helped us fall in love with Edinburgh all over again: we are looking forward to visiting you very soon.
