Dream buildings for serviced apartment conversions

Calling all architects - we have a job for you.

1. Gherkin

With the Gherkin (more formally known as 30 St Mary Axe) now in receivership, who will be in the running for one of London’s most iconic buildings? In an ideal world this would be in the ownership of one of our property providers, giving access to an architectural masterpiece for serviced accommodation. So with equally impressive buildings occupying the world’s skyline, what other places would we convert?

2. The Chrysler Centre

The Chrysler Centre located on 42nd Street in New York would be prime real estate for any serviced apartment operator. Offering over 2 million square feet of rentable space, this shimmering art-deco tower could provide guests with 360 degree views of Manhattan, overlooking iconic Central Park, the East River and Times Square.

3. Burj Khalifa

The tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, could be a supreme serviced apartment innovation. There are a staggering 160 stories and an observation deck on level 124, boasting unparalleled sights over Dubai and beyond.

4. Sydney Opera House

If heights aren’t your thing; how about an apartment at the Sydney Opera House? At just 65 metres tall it’s one thirteenth the size of the Burj Khalifa. It sits adjacent to the Sydney central business district and next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Due to the buildings abnormal shape each apartment would be architecturally unique.

5. Marina Bay Sands

Being the most expensive building in the world, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore would be an exceptional conversion. Not only is there a 150-metre infinity pool on the roof, Marina Bay Sands boasts two theatres, an ArtScience Museum, five floors of exhibition and convention space, six celebrity chef restaurants, a casino, a canal, an indoor skating rink and 800,000 square feet of  retail and restaurant space. This would be taking facilities and amenities to a whole new level.
