The Indian Rupee is the currency used in Mumbai, both card and cash are accepted, however it is useful to have a small amount of cash to hand as it is useful for tipping for a good or service- the usual amount is around 10%. Transport
Mumbai’s public transport can be overwhelming for first time travellers but here’s a straightforward guide to get you navigating the streets in no time:
The most direct modes of transport are trains- there are three lines: The central, Western and Harbour lines, The Central and Harbour cross over at Dadar junction if you need to make a change. Tickets are cheap and are available to purchase at the counters outside of the station. Do not buy them from third party vendors as they may be counterfeit!
Buses are common in Mumbai, a ticket costs between 10 and 30 rupees.
The Metro operates on a token system, passengers will need to purchase single or return tokens as there are no weekend/tourist passes. Prices range from 20 to 40 rupees.
Finally, the auto rickshaw’s, these are a fun way of exploring the city. The base price starts 18 rupees but remember they only sit 3 people.

Mumbai has a rich history of culture to explore, the city celebrates an array of festivals with great enthusiasm, including Ganesh Chaturthi, where elaborate processions and colourful decorations mark the arrival of Lord Ganesha. Labelled as the ‘Bollywood’ of India, dance and music have a large influence within the region. Mumbai's dance floors come alive during festive seasons with energetic Garba and Bhangra performances.
