A recent survey conducted by SilverDoor has shown that business travel bookers place more emphasis on quality, facilities and location than cost savings when booking accommodation.
The results, which will be published in detail in a whitepaper this autumn, suggest that despite the economic downturn, business travel bookers continue to prioritise making accommodation as comfortable as possible.
46 per cent of respondents said that quality was the most important factor when booking any type of accommodation. 24 per cent said coming in or under budget was the most important factor.
A large proportion (57 per cent) said that location was the most important factor when booking a serviced apartment. Just 29 per cent of respondents said that total cost was most important.
Asked what advantages serviced apartments have over hotels, a large proportion – 62 per cent - of respondents said they offered more facilities while only 25 said they chose apartments because they were more cost-effective. Only 4% said hotel-style facilities such as a restaurant and room service were important to them.
Respondents came from a wide range of industries. 49 per cent said they booked apartments for themselves and 43 per cent said they booked apartments for colleagues.
