Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and its largest city. While the city may not be as frenetic as other capitals – it tends to wind down at around 1am – it has a lively atmosphere, attractive buildings and plenty of things to do, from comedy clubs to bars and restaurants, at a fraction of the price of London.It’s also a top business destination and last week Principal Account Manager Joanna Cross and Client Account Support Marie Sztejer visited the city to meet our property providers and see their apartments.
Despite a bumpy start to the trip – Marie left her purse in her desk drawer and their flight was delayed - both were pleasantly surprised to discover that Belfast is a rather beautiful city. Joanna’s first thoughts on Belfast were that “it is a beautiful city with plenty of great architecture. The serviced apartments are of a very high standard and are even more spacious than other serviced apartments I’ve seen."
Joanna and Marie both said they found Belfast to be one of the friendlier cities they have visited and weren’t aware of any political tension in the slightest. They also noted that it is an important centre for music and that there always seems to be some sort of concert on, which can be a great way to spend your evening if you’re in the city on business. Another entertainment hub in Belfast is Customs House Square, where Belfast Apartments are based. The architecturally striking Customs House provides the backdrop of the square, which is host to street carnivals, theatre performances and corporate functions. It’s a great place to stay when you’re in the city on business; Joanna and Marie thought the apartments were spacious and liked the fact that some of the apartments have views of Customs House and the forecourt itself.
If you are on business in Belfast, staying in the city centre isn’t your only option. In fact, Joanna said that she would recommend staying outside the centre, where there are plenty of places to stay that are only a short bus or taxi ride away. Willowbank Apartments, for example, are in a rural location just off the motorway so guests have easy access to the city centre. Meanwhile, for those staying in the city centre, Divis and the Black Mountain – two mountains overlooking the city – provide a great place to walk off tension and get some exercise in the evenings or at weekends.
